About Us
Welcome to Highmark Physical Therapy
At Highmark Physical Therapy, we believe that exceptional care is more than just a treatment - it’s an experience. We are a locally owned physical therapy clinic dedicated to helping you achieve lasting wellness by treating you as a whole person, not just a body part.
Why Choose Us?

-
Evidence-Based Excellence: We are not just friendly faces — we are experts. Our team stays at the forefront of physical therapy by continually engaging with the latest research, advanced training, and proven clinical techniques. But we also know that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why we combine our deep clinical knowledge with careful listening, hands-on assessment, and real-world experience to tailor your care. We don’t just follow protocols — we think critically, adjust thoughtfully, and deliver care that reflects both what works best in the research and what works best for you.
-
Restorative Experience: From the moment you walk in, we want you to feel at ease. Our clinic is designed to be a positive, calming environment where your health and comfort are our priority. Each appointment lasts a full hour, giving us the time to listen, treat, and create a space where healing can truly happen.
-
Holistic Care: We treat the body and mind as interconnected, providing a comprehensive approach to healing that addresses your overall well-being.
-
Personalized Attention: You are not just a patient; you are an individual. Every session at Highmark Physical Therapy is one-on-one with your dedicated therapist. We work with you to understand your unique needs, goals, and lifestyle and craft a treatment plan that delivers results. You won’t get shuffled from one provider to the next. You will work with the same therapist who is invested in your progress and genuinely cares about how you’re doing.
Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or looking to optimize your performance, you deserve the best. Experience the difference of care at Highmark Physical Therapy.
Got Kids?
We've Got You Covered.
Is lack of childcare keeping you from getting the care you need?
Come see us — we love kids! We understand how hard it can be to prioritize your health when you're also caring for little ones.

That’s why we’ve created a kid-friendly environment just for you. We have a dedicated playroom right off the gym area, and you're welcome to bring your child with you to your appointment. Need a little one nearby during your session? No problem — we have swings, bouncers, and toys that can be brought right into the private treatment rooms.
Your well-being matters, and so does your peace of mind.
Let us help make it easier.

Our Team

Andrea Stauner, PT, DPT
Andrea was born and raised in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Sandy, Utah. She attended BYU and BYU-Hawaii for her undergraduate, receiving a B.S. in Exercise Science. She graduated from the University of Utah in 2010 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
Her first experience with Alaska came during an internship in 2008, and she quickly fell in love with its beauty and sense of community. After graduating, she made Alaska her permanent home.
Andrea brings over a decade of experience in orthopedic physical therapy, with a deep understanding of how the body moves, compensates, and heals. She has worked extensively with patients recovering from joint and tendon injuries, post-surgical rehab, spine conditions, chronic pain, and more—developing a reputation for thoughtful, individualized care that’s both evidence-based and results-driven. Her perspective is shaped not just by clinical experience, but by personal experience as well—having undergone three surgeries on her left knee and three vascular surgeries on her left leg. She knows how physically and emotionally challenging the recovery process can be, and that empathy fuels the way she works with each patient: with patience, compassion, and a deep commitment to long-term healing.
She also has advanced training in women’s health, including peripartum care, pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse, diastasis recti, painful intercourse, endometriosis and more. Her passion in this area stems not only from specialized education and hands-on experience, but also from her own journey through multiple pregnancies and the resulting changes and challenges. She is committed to helping women navigate the physical transitions of pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond with strength, confidence, and support.
Andrea also has a strong interest in treating post-concussion syndrome, which began after experiencing her own concussions and undergoing intensive treatment and rehabilitation. That firsthand experience sparked a desire to help others navigate the often frustrating and complex recovery process. She brings both clinical skill and personal empathy to her work with concussion patients, addressing not just physical symptoms but also the cognitive and emotional impact of head injuries.
Andrea uses a broad range of manual therapy techniques—such as soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilizations, and myofascial release—combined with carefully designed therapeutic exercise programs to restore strength, flexibility, and mobility. She emphasizes neuromuscular reeducation to help retrain movement patterns, improve coordination, and prevent future injuries. Through detailed movement analysis, Andrea identifies the root causes of dysfunction, allowing her to tailor interventions that address both symptoms and underlying issues. She is also certified in dry needling through ODNS.
Outside of the clinic, Andrea is a proud mom to three energetic daughters who keep her on her toes and bring plenty of joy and adventure to her life.

Amber DeGraw
Amber is the friendly face that greets you when you walk into our clinic. With a warm and welcoming personality, she brings a sense of comfort and care to everyone she meets. Originally from Hawaii, Amber has lived in Utah and Wyoming before making Alaska her home.
Amber holds a bachelor's degree in education and has a deep passion for helping others. While living in Wyoming, she ran an after-school program for underprivileged children, combining her love for education and community service. Here in Alaska, she continues to give back by substitute teaching in local elementary schools and volunteering at community events.
As a proud mother of four, Amber brings the same compassion, patience, and dedication to her work that she does to her family. Whether you’re checking in for an appointment or just passing through, Amber is here to make your visit smooth, friendly, and welcoming.
